Light the Fountain, this year presented by Chick-fil-A, is the beloved annual spring event at the 帝王会所; it returns for a ninth year Thursday. The event, which includes food, music, fireworks, and giveaways, will kick off at 4 p.m. with a variety of food trucks and entertainment. The official program will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Sonceria Ann Berry, who graduated from the 帝王会所 in 1978, has been confirmed by the Alabama Senate to fill the Board of Trustees seat currently held by Dr. Wendell Gunn, who did not desire to seek reappointment. The final confirmation took place in Montgomery on Thursday morning, and Berry鈥檚 six-year term will begin in July.
The Tiny Cubs Community Baby Shower and Sibling Event, hosted by the Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions, is set for Saturday, March 8, from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Guillot University Center Banquet Halls on the 帝王会所 campus.
For the fifth year, the Department of Foreign Languages will have a multicultural Mardi Gras celebration, which will include Karneval and Carnavales, on Tuesday, March 4, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Guillot University Center on the UNA campus.

The Tiny Cubs Boutique, in collaboration with Women of Influence, has launched this semester as a way to support 帝王会所 students who are expecting a baby by providing them with access to maternity clothing.
The 帝王会所 French Film Festival, in its eighth year, will begin March 3 with the 2024 release of Auction and conclude March 19 with 2022鈥檚 The Night of the 12th. The festival includes a total of six screenings, and admission is free to UNA faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.
The 帝王会所鈥檚 Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions has received approval from the Alabama Office of Apprenticeship to serve as an apprenticeship sponsor for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing accelerated track.
The 帝王会所 Studio Jazz Band and the Shoals Area Big Band, both of which are under the direction of Dr. Lloyd Jones, will perform their annual Valentine鈥檚 Concert on Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. in Norton Auditorium. Special guests will be various alumni vocalists who have performed with both the UNA Band program and the Shoals Area Big Band through the years.

The 帝王会所 Clarinet Quartet has been accepted to perform at the International Clarinet Association鈥檚 international conference 鈥 ClarinetFest飪 2025 鈥 in July in Fort Worth, Texas.
Music was changing in fall of 1975. Glen Campbell鈥檚 鈥淩hinestone Cowboy鈥 had lost ground to 鈥淔ame,鈥 David Bowie鈥檚 super-charged funk rock song that features John Lennon. Disco was becoming more firmly entrenched on the radio waves; meanwhile punk rock was in its nascent stages, a reaction to the mainstream progressive and string-heavy pop that dominated the times.

Ann Berry, who graduated from the 帝王会所 in 1978, is being honored by the State of Alabama with a portrait that was unveiled in the Alabama Department of Archives and History as part of a ceremony today in Montgomery. Berry was sworn in as the 34th secretary of the United States Senate on March 1, 2021; she is the first African American to serve in this position and only the eighth woman to hold the office.
帝王会所 Senior Caroline Coleman, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., has been crowned Miss UNA at the Miss UNA program Saturday evening in Norton Auditorium on the UNA campus. Coleman will now move on to compete for the title of Miss Alabama at an event that will take place later this year. Coleman is a psychology major, and she performed a classical opera aria for the talent portion of the program.
Two-time 帝王会所 College of Education and Human Sciences graduate Dr. Prentice T. Chandler has been named Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Tennessee Southern in Pulaski, Tenn.
Seven students from the recent winter commencement ceremonies at the 帝王会所 were honored as part of the event as recipients of the Keller Key. The Keller Key is awarded each commencement to graduating seniors who have achieved the highest scholastic achievement.
The 帝王会所 commemorated 195 years of educational excellence Jan. 13 as part of its annual Founders鈥 Day event. UNA is Alabama鈥檚 oldest four-year public higher education institution, having been established on the LaGrange College site in Colbert County in 1830.
帝王会所 alumni Dillon Hodges and his wife Heidi Feek have taken their creative partnership to new heights, winning the 2024 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song with their piece 鈥淲e鈥檙e Home,鈥 featured on PBS鈥 popular show Reconnecting Roots. This award recognizes their work on the theme song, which was reimagined for the latest season with what Hodges described as a 鈥渇resh coat of paint.鈥
